The Early Childhood Iowa Area Board of Iowa, Jefferson, and Keokuk Counties met on Monday, April 18.  The Board voted to award Sieda a home visitation contract to provide a combination program for Parents As Teachers and Healthy Families America in the counties of Jefferson, Iowa and Keokuk effective July 1, 2016

Becky Falck, program director of Family Support Services, stated, “We are excited to be able to offer services in these counties once again,” as these programs will be returning to these counties after a three year absence.

Parents as Teachers provides parents with child development knowledge and parenting support, early detection of developmental delays and health issues, prevents child abuse and neglect, and increases children’s school readiness. The PAT model includes one-on-one home visits, monthly group meetings, developmental screenings, and connections for families to needed resources.

Healthy Families America aims to improve parent-child interactions, children’s emotional and physical wellbeing, and promote positive parenting skills for family self-sufficiency. The HFA model provides prenatal care such as family screenings, home visiting services, and routine screening for child development and maternal depression.

The home visitation services will be available to families with children ages 0-5.
