This month all Head Start and CACFP staff in Appanoose, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren, & Wapello counties, along with our school district partnership Teachers in Cardinal, Davis, Harmony, Moulton-Udell and Ottumwa attended ALiCE training.  ALiCE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.  It is based on the premise that information, authorization and proactive training are the key to surviving an Active Shooter event.  ALiCE training helped to empower our staff to make choices based on real-time information and increase the survivability if an unfortunate event would occur.
