- Fear. Fear of discrimination, rejection, prejudice, and physical violence.
- Shame. This is especially true for those that lack support from friends and family.
- Low self-esteem resulting from feelings of being “different” or discriminated against.
- Emotional, physical, or sexual abuse.
- Bullying and teasing.
