The first opportunity to get your own Seeds of Hope garden plot in Ottumwa will be on April 27th and May 4th from 3:30 – 4:30pm at the Food Pantry Garden in Ottumwa. All are welcome to sign-up.
Following the sign-up period, Seeds of Hope will be offering Hypertufa classes at 310 West Main St. at the Food Pantry Garden from 5:00 – 6:00pm. Please sign-up ahead of time, so we have enough materials for those that wish to attend.
At the classes you will also learn how to make your own planter. This will be a two-step process, so you should plan to attend both classes. When you are done, you will have your own planter, complete with a vegetable plant to set in your outdoor sunny place.
In Appanoose County, the first chance will be on May 5th from 2:00 – 3:00PM at the Sieda Appanoose County Resource Center at 111 N. Main Street in Centerville.
Your fee for the garden can be waived in Ottumwa if you are either a) income verified or b) approved for LIHEAP. No income verification is required for our other garden sites. However, preference is given to low-income and elderly individuals in the neighborhoods where the gardens are located.
