Sieda Community Action has a limited number of window air conditioning units available for area low income residents who are medically eligible.  In order to qualify, residents must have a written statement from their physician proving that they have a medical condition which requires air conditioning.  This physician’s statement should be on a prescription pad or official stationary from the physician’s office. Residents must also be income eligible (under 175% of poverty) or have been approved for Low Income Home Energy Assistance in the 2016-17 heating season.  This service is available to home owners and also to renters who have permission from their landlord.  Landlord permission forms are available in all local Sieda Resource Centers.  Application for medically eligible air conditioners may be completed at any local Sieda Resource Center in Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren and Wapello counties.
