Family Development and Self Sufficiency (FaDSS) at the Iowa State Capitol for FaDSS Day on the Hill

State legislators and other departments had a chance to learn more about the FaDSS Program at an informational fair at the Capitol Rotunda. FaDSS Executive Director Brian Dunn, FaDSS Program Manager Deb Shubat, and FaDSS Generalists Jamie Anderson and Kirby Rowl participated on FaDSS Day on the Hill at the State Capitol in Des Moines. Present with Sieda FaDSS during the day was Jefferson County FaDSS participant, Rachel Lantz.

Sponsored by the Iowa Family Development Alliance, all seventeen FaDSS Grantees from around the State of Iowa participated in the annual event. The event included informational booths and the opportunity for Iowa legislators to speak with FaDSS staff and participants about how the program has affected their lives. Sieda’s booth provided a display of quotes from FaDSS participants from all the FaDSS counties. FaDSS participant, Rachel Lantz presented her personal story of working toward her goals of achieving self-sufficiency, to a “rally”. Thank you so much, Rachel, for the excellent presentation of your story!

Sieda FaDSS staff were very pleased to have had personal conversations with five of our eight area legislators.  One of our legislators was absent that day and although FaDSS was not able to make a personal connection with two other legislators, they left materials about the Sieda FaDSS program for their review.  It was a “GREAT DAY ON THE HILL-2018!”
