Sieda Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) started in July a drawing for participating FaDSS families. Each Sieda FaDSS participant who met with their FaDSS worker to discuss goal progress or new goals that month had their name entered into an end of the month drawing. Their FaDSS Generalist randomly selected a winner from the entries for the month of July. Each winner was given the chance to select items from the FaDSS shopping list for a total of no more than $20. As you can see, the shoppers did a great job! Items included….paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, dish soap, wash clothes, dish clothes, baby wipes, kitchen cleaners, Q-tips… They hope that many more families will be drawn in the coming months?
Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) is a home visitation program that works with families receiving FIP. FaDSS Services are available in Wapello, Mahaska, Appanoose, Davis, Keokuk, Jefferson and Van Buren Counties. FaDSS Generalists work with each family to discover strengths, set goals and access community resources/supportive services. It is the family who establishes the goal/s and the FaDSS Generalist can provide information, make recommendations and referrals to assist the family in moving toward self-sufficiency. Many of the FaDSS families are working to continue their education or working to improve job skills for better job opportunities. Some families have goals around improved housing or safe, dependable childcare. The FaDSS focus is on a family’s long-term success!
