Congratulations to the Ship Shape Attendance Rate winners!

Mahaska County Sieda Head Start class was the first class awarded this new school year. The 4-year-old Mahaska class was awarded the September “Ship Shape Attendance Rate.” Last school year Sara Whitlow started the attendance rate campaign. All nine Sieda Head Starts in our seven county service area are involved.

It is important to the Sieda Head Starts to meet the children’s educational, nutritional, social, mental, and literacy needs. It is equally necessary to build a strong foundation of school readiness. School attendance is a significant part of preparing the children for a successful school life.

To strengthen and encourage the children in our Head Start classrooms the “Ship Shape Attendance Rate” is given. Each month the class with the best attendance is given the award.

The Mahaska County Sieda Head Start 4-year-old class held a 96% attendance rate for the month of September. The teachers Cheryl Appleget and assistant teacher Angela Wilson received a special certificate and items for their classroom children to enjoy.

Great job children, families, and teachers! Cheers from all of us!
