Prevention Staff with the Sieda Behavioral Health and Treatment Services Unit (BHTS) provide training for our area businesses on drug-free workplaces. In Iowa, if a business performs drug testing, they must provide supervisors with an initial two-hour training followed every year with a one-hour refresher training.  Therefore, Sieda Prevention Staff provides workplaces with information on how substance misuse can affect their business as well as signs and symptoms of various substances. Similarly, they provide information on the 4 Step Approach for supervisors.

This approach educates supervisors about:
  • Documenting job performance issues
  • Identifying troubled employees
  • Addressing concerns with employees
  • Referring to assistance if appropriate.

Training is free to any local business in the ten-county BHTS catchment area. Call the BHTS home office at 641-683-6747 for training or questions.
