Thanks to our partnerships with businesses, individuals, and organizations, Sieda Community Action was able to provide school supplies to nearly 600 students in three Southeast Iowa counties. The Sieda School Supply Program Distributions in Appanoose, Jefferson, and Wapello counties help provide supplies and backpacks for students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade at no cost to the caretakers. The school supplies are to help low-income families with the concerns of preparing their children for school. To qualify for school supplies, clients must have been income eligible or approved for energy assistance (LIHEAP). The school supplies were distributed at our Sieda offices and the Centerville High School.

In addition, we’re happy to be able to support and participate with Sieda’s many programs in the other community events in our area. There were a number of events that helped prepare children and families for school; Davis County Back To School Resource Fair, Appanoose County Back To School Resource Night, Mahaska County Back-To-School Fair, and events in other counties. The Sieda programs that participated were Family Development and Self Sufficiency (FaDSS), BHTS Prevention and Substance Abuse Education, Resource Center Community Action Program (CAP) Specialists, and BHTS Tobacco Prevention.
The number of children helped with school supplies is still growing. Sieda Community Action will continue to help families in need of supplies as long as we have supplies. If you are in need please call 641-682-8741.
Thanks again to all those that made it possible to reach so many.
