Heating assistance is available to all income-eligible utility customers through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Sieda will accept applications starting Monday either through the online link or by phone for the general public in our seven counties. For safety reasons, you will be able to complete your application by phone during this application season. Or click here to apply online. Clients may need to create an account for the 2020-2021 heating season.
Phone appointments can be made by calling any of the Sieda Neighborhood Resource Centers from November 2, 2020, to April 30, 2021. We will be able to help residents of Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren, and Wapello Counties. If you do not live in one of these counties, please click here to find your counties’ Iowa Community Action Agency.
The 2020-2021 LIHEAP was established to assist qualified low-income Iowa homeowners and renters. It helps pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. The assistance amount is a one-time payment based on household income, household size, type of heating fuel, and types of housing.
For your application, you will need verification of gross household earnings for the past 30 days or 2019 Federal Taxes, recent gas and electric bills, and Social Security Cards for all household members.
If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact the Sieda office in your county or call the main office at 1-800-622-8340 or 641-682-8741 extension 151.
