Wapello County Children’s Christmas & Silver Bells Programs
Sieda Wapello County Resource Center holds two Holiday Programs with the help of the community.
Silver Bells for the seniors, food, and gift bags pick up is on Friday, December 10th, from 9 – 3 pm. Applications were mailed to those that qualified. Be sure you get your application in before November 29th. This program last year had a total of 290 homes with 333 seniors.
Families that apply for the Wapello County Children’s Christmas Program are adopted through the Ottumwa Fire Department’s Sparky Claus. Adoption cards are available at a variety of locations and through businesses adopting. If you are interested in donating or adopting, please call (641) 682-8741 ext. 145. Gifts can be dropped at the fire station or the Sieda Wapello County Resource Center at 725 West Second Street, Ottumwa. In 2020 items were provided to 628 children.
Applications are available inside our center for children ages 0 to 18. You must be income verified at below 200% of the poverty level through a Sieda program (LIHEAP or another). Applications need to be returned by December 10th or as soon as possible to be adopted. If not adopted, there will be a Shopping Day. If you have questions or need help, call (641) 682-8741.
If the children are not adopted, a parent or legal guardian will need to come Friday, December 17th. Bring your holiday slip and ID. If your family is adopted, we will call you to pick up your gifts.
