The Great American Smokeout® event is being held on November 18th, 2021. This event occurs every year on the third Thursday of November. The event helps to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking & encourages smokers to make a quit plan on this day.
With 34 million Americans still smoking it remains the single largest preventable cause of death and illness in the world. Smoking causes an estimated 480,000 deaths every year with around 40,000 of those deaths occurring from 2nd hand smoke exposure. No matter how long you have smoked or your age, quitting can improve your health starting right away & in the long term.
For free & confidential help in quitting, you can access 24-hour coaching, educational materials, or Nicotine Replacement Therapy via phone or text at (Quitline Iowa at 1-800QUITNOW), or text (“Start My Quit” to 855.891.9989). You can also visit cancer.org/smokeout or call 1-800-227-2345.
Make this the day you choose your quit!
