Sieda is working hard to secure the opportunity for low-income families to receive in some way gifts for Christmas. We have programs in December for pre-qualified low-income senior households in several counties. As well as, Children’s gifts for 0 to under 18 years of age living in low-income homes in multiple counties. Plus, our centers provide Heating Assistance (LIHEAP) for those that qualify.

Sieda and other groups are trying to meet that need in 2022. Listed is county information on the programs we have at one of our centers or at a partnering group.

Appanoose County – CLOSED

Silver Bells Program provides seniors with food bags. Applications were mailed to our 60-year-olds and older that are income qualified. The Distribution will be Friday, December 9th, at the Sieda Appanoose County Resource Center. Please have applications turned in by November 23rd, no laterFor questions about donating food or senior gifts or with help with the application, please contact the Sieda Appanoose Center at 641-856-8437. In 2021, Appanoose Silver & Gold provided gift bags to 209 seniors.

For Operation Santa Programyou can pick up and drop off applications at the Sieda Appanoose Center at 111 North Main Street, Centerville. Applications need to be returned by November 15th to the Sieda Appanoose Center or mailed before. Clients who apply have to be income verified. This can be done through Heating Assistance (LIHEAP) or can be done through other options at Sieda at 641-856-8437. For questions about Operation Santa, please call 641-437-3450. Gift distribution is from December 5th to the 9th.

Davis County ICARE Program – CLOSED

The Davis County community comes together to provide gifts and food boxes to those that apply to ICARE. Applications were mailed out to families that participated before. The Applications are also available at the Davis County Sieda Resource Center. You can call 641-664-1911 or stop by 203 South Madison Street, Bloomfield. The applications have more details.

Applications need to be returned to the same location by Monday, November 21st, to receive gifts. This program provides nearly 300 individuals food or gifts for Christmas because of the donors and those that adopted from the Angel Tree at Brothers Market. Please call to see how to help.

The pick-up date is Friday, December 16th, at the Fairgrounds in Bloomfield from 8:00 to 2 pm.

Jefferson County Sieda Children’s Christmas Program – CLOSED

Last year the program at the Sieda Jefferson County Resource Center provided 378 children gifts with the generous help of the community. Your amazing donations help provide toys, clothing, and other items.

Applications for households with children 0 to under 18 years old are available at the Sieda Neighborhood Resource Center at 2200 West Jefferson Avenue, Fairfield.  If you have questions please call 641-472-6140. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, December 7th. You must return your application to pick up the slip with the time, date, and location of the distribution. Turn them in as soon as possible to be adopted.

There will be adoption mittens hanging on trees in a variety of places across Fairfield. The distribution will be Wednesday and Thursday, December 14th and 15th at the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary, 200 S. Main St. Fairfield.

Mahaska County Resource Center Christmas – CLOSED

The Mahaska County Resource Center with the help of the community in 2021, provided 284 children gifts. With your help, again this year, we hope to continue to help the children of low-income homes. If you are interested in donating or adopting, call 641-673-8758. 

Sieda Mahaska County Resource Center at 114 North Market, Oskaloosa, has applications available inside. You must return your applications by December 9th. Applications are for children 0 to under 18 years old. Please get them in as soon as possible to be income verified and adopted. Please call 641-329-4174 if you have questions or need help.

The Distribution will be Friday, December 16th, from 9 to 3:30 at the Central United Methodist Church.

Van Buren County Christmas for Kids – CLOSED

Applications were due October 1st. You can call our Sieda Neighborhood Resource Center at 641-664-1911 for more information. If you applied you will be called with a date, time, and place to pick up gifts.

Wapello County Children’s Christmas & Silver Bells Programs – CLOSED

Wapello County Resource Center holds two Holiday Programs with the help of the community. Silver Bells for the seniors, pick-up is on December 7th. Applications were mailed to those that qualify. This program last year had a total of 295 homes with 360 seniors.

For the Wapello County Children’s Christmas Program, individuals are adopted through the Ottumwa Fire Department’s Sparky Claus at a variety of locations and through other great businesses. If you are interested in donating or adopting, please call (641) 682-8741. Gifts can be dropped at the fire station or the Sieda Resource Center at 725 West Second Street, Ottumwa. In 2021 items were provided to 582 children.

Applications are available inside the Wapello Resource Center for children ages 0 to under 18. Wapello’s deadline is December 9th for Christmas applications or until time slots are filled, whichever comes first. Please get applications turned in as soon as possible to be adopted. If the children are not adopted, there will be a Shopping Day on Thursday, December 15th, for a parent or legal guardian to come and pick out items. If your family was adopted, Sieda will contact you before that date to pick up your gifts.
