- There are two age categories: Jr. ages 13-17; and Adult ages 18 and above. There are two contest competitions for each age category:
- Carved Pumpkin Contest
- Decorated Pumpkin Contest.
- Entry form must accompany all creations and filled out completely. Please do not attach entry form to pumpkin. Each entry will be assigned a number that corresponds with the entry form so judges will not know the identity of the artist.
- There is no registration fee. It’s free!
- Entrants must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry.
- Pumpkins must be carved or decorated before 1 pm on the day of the event.
- Pumpkins with inappropriate subjects will not be judged or displayed.
- Must be real pumpkins or a member of the pumpkin family. No artificial pumpkins.
- Pumpkin carvings or decorations can be original or from a kit.
- Carved Category: Pumpkins must be carved. No accessories may be used. Lighting is allowed. Decorated Category: Anything goes. Painting and accessories are a good idea.
- Pumpkins that deteriorate or mold will be removed from display
- By entering the contest, entrants accept and agree to the rules set forth by Sieda Community Action. (Rules are subject to change, without notice)
- Pumpkins must be at Sieda booth on 3rd St. between 10am-1:00pm on day of event (October 25, 2014)
- Judging will occur at 2:00pm.
- Judges will be looking for the use of theme, imagination, originality, ingenious use of pumpkin, and quality of work.
- Winners will be announced at 3:30pm at Greater Ottumwa Park Stage, Shelter House. Auction will occur after announcement of winners.
- Two winners will be announced in each category: First Place and Second Place. A “People’s Choice” award will also be presented as well as a “Best in Show” award.
- You can pick up your pumpkin after prizes are awarded or you can leave with Sieda Community Action to auction.
