Iowa Senator, Joni Ernst, recently spent some time discussing the needs of Iowans living with low incomes. On Thursday, August 17, Senator Ernst met with the clients and staff of Sieda Community Action in Bloomfield for a panel discussion on the challenges facing people with low incomes. The issues discussed ranged from the cliff effect to the difficulties finding full-time employment after a felony conviction.

“We were very happy to have the opportunity to meet with the Senator to discuss the challenges our clients face each and every day,” said Brian Dunn, Sieda’s Executive Director. “For Senator Ernst and her staff to seek out Sieda and our clients to participate in this panel demonstrates her commitment to the folks we serve.”

The Senator also took some time to visit more casually with the panel participants, and even snapped a selfie with a panelist before having to move on to her next appointment.
