Sieda provides the Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program. For anyone living in Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren, or Wapello counties that meets the following requirements. The TBRA program is currently full, however, we are accepting applications for the waiting list.

TBRA provides subsidized housing for tenant based housing. It is a rental subsidy that helps make up the difference between what a renter can afford to pay and the actual rent for a home. This program is similar to the Section 8 voucher program provided by local housing authorities. However, for TBRA, Tenants select private rental housing that meets occupancy standards and passes inspection. If qualified the  TBRA household is provided more flexibility to choose the neighborhood (or school district) as well as the type of housing (such as a single-family home, large apartment building, duplex, etc.) they prefer.

In addition, to qualify for TBRA, households must be at or below 60% of area median income (AMI). This is based on the AMI of the county in which the household currently resides.  Households meeting eligibility guidelines will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis.  Households participating in the TBRA program must continue to meet the income guidelines to remain in the program.

Applicants interested in being put on the waiting list should contact Housing Stabilization Director, Ned Van Nostrand at 641-682-8741 extension 136.  Ned is in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please leave him a message. He will help with the application & AMI calculation.
