Emily Wolfe, a Teacher at the Ottumwa – 1st Lutheran Sieda Head Start Center, received the Classroom Champion Grant. For the second year, the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation offers the Classroom Champions mini-grant program. The grant is to help Pre-K – 12th-grade teachers and para-educators who serve the students of Wapello County. The Legacy Foundation recognizes that many teachers and associates use their own personal funds to enrich the student experience in their class, and they want to help. Money given is to help with things teachers and associates need in their classrooms.

Emily Wolfe was granted $600 to purchase large motor equipment for her classroom. Once the items are purchased with the grant money, we will take pictures of the students using the items.

“It is awesome this grant is available, and teachers and students both, will benefit from it. I cannot wait to see the excitement on the students’ faces once they get to use the items Mrs. Wolfe purchases with the grant money,” comments Katie Moore, the Wapello County Center Supervisor.
