For November, Sieda Tobacco Prevention would like everyone to be aware of the Great American Smokeout. The Great American Smokeout occurs annually on the third Thursday of November, this year it lands on November 16, 2023. The American Cancer Society sponsors the Great American Smokeout, challenging smokers to give up cigarettes for 24 hours. This event brings
people together in the spirit of quitting and helps to raise awareness of the dangers of
smoking.

The American Cancer Society, Great American Smokeout®, website provides resources,
news, and inspiration and tips to increase their chances of quitting successfully. Ways
you can observe The Great American Smokeout is to make a quit plan, learn about your
options to curb cravings. Then get your support system ready to help you be successful
in your quit attempt.
